And Aristophanes, in his Proagon, says— But once seeing him when he was sick in the summer, In order to be sick too himself, eat figs at midday. And Eubulus says, in his Sphingocarion— No doubt it was; for I was sick, my friend, From eating lately figs one day at noon. And Nicophon says, in the Sirens— But if a man should eat green figs at noon, And then go off to sleep; immediately A galloping fever comes on him, accursed, And falling on him brings up much black bile.
