I. Trebonius continues the siege of Marseilles. III. Nasidius arrives with a fleet to the relief of the town. IV. The inhabitants repair their fleet, and join it to that of Nasidius. V. A sea fight between Brutus and the people of Marseilles. VI. In which the latter are defeated. VIII. Trebonius raises a prodigious tower against the town. IX. Likewise a musculus of uncommon size. X. By which a tower belonging to the enemy is overthrown. XI. Upon this the besieged demand a truce. XIII. Which they afterwards break, and in a sudden sally burn Trebonius’s works. XIV. Trebonius, with wonderful expedition, raises a new and amazing terrace. XV. Upon which the besieged again treat of a surrender. XVI. Meanwhile M. Varro, in farther Spain, prepares to oppose Caesar. But afterwards, Varus having received supplies from king Juba, he rashly ventures a battle, where, after some advantages in the beginning, by means of his cavalry, he is at last cut off with his whole army.
